53/2024-25 – Police and Crime Commissioner Fund (reducing re-offending) application

Decision number:   053/2024_25

Author and Job Role: George Bell, Criminal Justice Policy & Commissioning Officer

Protective Marking: Official

The Police and Crime Commissioner for Surrey is responsible for commissioning services that support victims of crime, improve community safety, tackle child exploitation, and prevent re-offending.

For the financial year 2024/25 the Office of the Police and Crime Commissioner used a proportion of locally derived funding to support the delivery of local services.

Surrey County Council Public Health – High Impact Complex Drinker’s Service – Heather Ryder

Brief overview of service/decision – To continue with the award of £50,000 to Public Health Surrey County Council for this year. This is to fund the High Impact Complex Drinker’s Service in Surrey. This project has previously been supported by the Commissioner.

Reason for funding –

1) Reducing the impact of anti-social behaviour and re-offending are key objectives for the delivery of the HICD Service. Anti-social behaviour and re-offending are both areas associated with alcohol dependence, especially for those whose health and social care is more complex and who do not, for whatever reason, engage with mainstream services.

2) Help to create safer communities and protect people from harm in Surrey. Alcohol is one of four priorities for Surrey’s Combating Drugs Partnership, with a key aim being to reduce the associated harms of alcohol dependency. This includes both health and social harms, and the impact it has on both individuals and communities.

That the Commissioner supports this standard grant application to the PCC Fund and awards to the following;

  • £50,000 to Surrey County Council Public Health

I approve the recommendation(s):
