Executive Summary:
For 2020/21 the Police and Crime Commissioner has made available £538,000 of funding to ensure continued support to local community, voluntary and faith organisations.
Applications for Standard Grant Awards of over £5,000 – Community Safety Fund
Active Surrey – Active Choices
To award Active Surrey £47,452.35 to rebuild and enhance the Friday Night youth provision across the county. The Friday Night Project pre the pandemic was based in leisure centres and provide a safe place for young people to enjoy access to a variety of sports. The aim is to reboot and focus on working with young people who are coming to notice. The second half of the project is to expand the criminal justice referral pathways in order to provide positive and transformative activities for young people who have become involved in the criminal justice system for the first time.
Applications for Small Grant Awards up to £5000 – Community Safety Fund
Elmbridge Borough Council – Junior Citizen
To award Elmbridge Borough Council £2,275 to support the delivery of their Junior Citizen which is a multi-agency safety event for year 6 pupils to support their transition to secondary school.
Recommendation
The Commissioner supports the core service applications and small grants applications to the Community Safety Fund and awards to the following;
- £47,452.35 to Active Surrey for their Active Choices programme
- £2,275 to Elmbridge Borough Council for their Junior Citizen programme

The Community Safety Fund Decision Panel and policy officers considers any risks in the allocation of funding. It is also part of the process to consider when refusing an application the service delivery risks if appropriate.
